The rules for Saturday’s Gourmet are based on….rush-hour weeknight dinners. So K.I.S.S.!!!
1. You may use no more than 10 ingredients for your dish. Seasonings/spices and leavening agents do not count as ingredients.
2. At least 6 of these ingredients must be things you either already have in your house or (if you haven’t done your groceries this week), must be things you typically have in the house/in your pantry.
3. At least one of the 10 ingredients must be from a can. Multiple cans of the same thing (i.e. two cans of chickpeas) count as one ingredient, not two.
4. The total chopping, washing, prep, and cook time for your dish may not exceed 2.5 hours (including the prep and plating time at my house). You can have an extra 30 mins if needed for the cocktail/drink, so a total of 3 hours.
5. It would be particularly thematic if you went with a dish that is a favourite and/or something you know well that is reliable, delicious, and comes together quickly. Elevate it a little or give it a twist because you have the time, but give us a glimpse of what you make when you are stuck at work late and in a hurry, hungry, and just want something delicious and foodie and fast!
